April 25, 2010 Breast Cancer Awareness Stride Walk @ Cottonwood Mall in Albq, NM. More than 20,000 people took part in this year's 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' walk in northwest Albuquerque. Nearly $530,000 brought in this year, which is $70,000 more than last year. More than a thousand women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in New Mexico in 2010 and more than 200 will die, according to the American Cancer Society. The money raised helps to fund early prevention and detection, support programs and scientific research. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
